Spiritual Root of the Afflication
Welcome back to another powerful discussion on the Kingdom of God! In a world system that often feels chaotic and overwhelming, it is more important than ever for believers to understand their true identity and spiritual power. In our latest session at Marketplace Ministry International, Dr. Gwen sat down with Dr. Wayne Richards, founder of Deliverance Chronicles Global Networks, to unpack a deeply transformative topic: the undeniable connection between spiritual authority and deliverance. If you have ever felt powerless against the storms of life, sickness, or generational struggles, this teaching is for you. God has equipped His people with a salvation package that includes everything we need to walk in victory. Let us dive into the profound truths of biblical dominion, spiritual warfare, and how you can step into your God-given authority today.Understanding True Biblical Dominion
To understand deliverance, we must first understand authority. God established this concept at the very beginning of creation. In Genesis 1:26, God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion."But what does dominion actually mean? Biblical dominion means to rule, to represent, and to be a living example of God on earth. When people look at believers, they should see the image and nature of God. We are called the sons of God, and with that title comes immense spiritual responsibility.Authority Over Systems, Not PeopleA common misconception in the world—and sometimes even in the church—is that dominion is a license to exploit or control others. Dr. Wayne Richards emphasizes that this is a dangerous error. God never gave us dominion so we could subjugate our fellow human beings or keep people dependent on human leaders.Instead, the dominion God gave us is a spiritual construct designed to take authority over the works of the enemy. We are called to exercise authority over:Demonic forces and spiritual entitiesWorldly systems that oppose GodSickness and diseaseLack and povertyWhen we understand that our fight is not against flesh and blood, we can begin to use our authority where it actually matters—in the spiritual realm. The Spiritual Root of Physical Afflictions
One of the most profound insights shared by Dr. Wayne is that 99% of all sickness is spiritual. While there is an outward, physical manifestation that afflicts the body, the root cause is often a spiritual attack designed by the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy.God has given believers the dominion to stop the works of the enemy. While modern medicine has its place, we must remember the supernatural provision of God. When the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness, they did not rely on pills or surgeries. Their shoes did not wear out, and they were sustained by God's direct power. As New Testament believers, we operate at an even higher level because we are in Christ, and Christ is in us. We carry the authority to pray for healing and see the outward manifestations of demonic affliction broken.
Breaking Generational Covenants
Because we carry the blood of our ancestors, our bloodlines can sometimes be afflicted by the agreements or sins of our forefathers. Dr. Wayne, who has authored powerful resources like Demonic Sexuality: How to Break Demonic Covenants and Praying with the God of War, notes that deliverance is essential for dealing with these generational issues.Jesus shed His blood so that we could have authority over everything that afflicts our bloodline. Through deliverance ministry, we can break generational curses and stop the enemy from operating in our households and our churches.
Reclaiming Our Abdicated Authority
If God gave us all this power, why is the world in such a state? To answer this, we have to look at the concept of free will and the first abdication of authority.God is a God of love, justice, and liberation. He desires a genuine relationship with us, which means He had to give humanity the power of choice. He wants us to choose Him out of love, not out of fear of hell. However, in the Garden of Eden, Adam chose to abdicate his God-given authority, handing it over to Satan. But God was not caught by surprise. The Bible tells us that Jesus, the Lamb of God, was slain before the foundation of the world. Before the earth was even formed, God had a mission and a plan for our redemption. When we are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, we inherit a spiritual blessing that we do not have to beg or work for—we simply have to receive it.Seated in Heavenly Places: Shifting ParadigmsWhen Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the temple was torn in two. This was a monumental shift in spiritual authority. There was no longer a need for an earthly priesthood because the Royal Priesthood was established through the order of Melchizedek.
As believers, we are no longer "outer court dwellers." We have direct access to the inner courts to address the King of Kings. Furthermore, the Bible declares that we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Anytime you have a seat at a table, it indicates that you have the ability to interact with people of great influence and form legislation. Because we are seated in Christ, we possess the spiritual authority to:Make spiritual legislation that impacts the natural world.Shift paradigms in our culture and communities.Change failing systems through the power of prayer and deliverance.Christ is the head, and we are the body. The body takes direction from the head. We are His hands, His feet, and His mouth in the earth today. He would not command us to do His work if He had not already equipped us with all power and authority! The Earth is Waiting for the Sons of GodWe are living in a critical season. The entire world—the environment, the systems, the people—is groaning and waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. When will believers take their rightful position in the earth?
As Dr. Gwen powerfully stated, it is the sons of God who have the authority to speak to the storms and change the atmosphere. Christ is trying to do a multiplied work in the Kingdom of God through us. We are called to be like "little gods" in the earth (as referenced in the Psalms by David), acting as God's authorized representatives. We must anchor ourselves in the promise of Luke 10:19, which perfectly summarizes our position: "I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you."Key Takeaways on Authority and DeliveranceDominion is Stewardship: God gave us authority to rule over spiritual forces, sickness, and poverty, never to manipulate or control other people.Sickness is Often Spiritual: Behind many physical ailments is a spiritual root designed to steal, kill, and destroy. Deliverance and healing go hand in hand. You
Have Direct Access: Because of the torn veil, you are part of a Royal Priesthood. You can go directly to the inner courts of Heaven to petition the King of Kings. You Can Legislate Spiritually: Being seated in heavenly places means you have a seat at the table to shift paradigms and change worldly systems through Christ.Your Authority is Inherited: You don't have to work for your spiritual authority. It is part of your salvation package, established before the foundation of the world.ConclusionIt is time for the body of Christ to wake up, understand who we are, and recognize whose we are. We have been equipped with the Holy Spirit and the authority of Jesus Christ to cast out demons, heal the sick, and break generational curses.
